Details

The integration between Urmet Door Entry & Access Control systems provides with you flexibility when deciding on lift management for your project. We have a solution for all lift control variations, such as…

1. You need to control the lift for visitors only? No problem.

2 . You want to control the lift for visitors and residents? We can do that.

3. Actually, you only want to control the lift for residents? That’s great, let’s get to work.

But, how do we do it? And what Urmet systems will you need to achieve lift management? Well, take a look below…

Resident Management ONLY

This can be achieved using the Urmet Access Control System…

‘IPassan’

Meaning you do not have to use Urmet Door Entry to achieve resident ONLY lift management.

Visitor Management ONLY

This can be achieved using Urmet Door Entry Systems…

2Voice & IPerCom

Meaning you do not have to use Urmet Access Control to achieve visitor ONLY lift management.

BOTH Visitor & Resident Management

This can be achieved using Urmet Door Entry & Access Control Systems. You can choose between either

IPassan & 2Voice

or

IPassan & IPerCom

Meaning you have to use both Urmet Door Entry & Access Control systems to achieve both Resident & Visitor lift management.

How does it work?

Urmet Door Entry & Access Control systems have both Hi and Low level integrations to achieve lift management, but what does this mean?

Hover over the text below to find out!

Hi Level Integration

Low Level Integration

So, because the Urmet Door Entry and Access Control systems have different levels of integration (Hi and Low), it means there are multiple ways to achieve lift management when using each system.

We delve into how each system can achieve lift management below, whilst keeping it as simple as possible…

NOTE: IPassan can offer resident lift management when used alone, or when combined with Urmet Door Entry systems, it can provide BOTH visitor and resident lift management.

For Hi level integration, both systems (IPassan and Lift) are communicating through an IP network, and are managed using licenses.

So, when an event is logged at the entry panel (resident buzzes visitor in), an IP message is sent over the IP network to the lift interface which calls the lift to ground, and limits the lift to only the residents’ floor – keeping the rest of the building secure.

Hi level integration has an advantage over Low level integration, as even on larger sites, only one IP connection is needed for the whole building. This means there is no need for many individual relays (as is the case with Low level integration), helping to save space and time during the installation.

Low level lift integration uses a series of relays to manage the lift, as opposed to an IP network.

When an event is logged by the resident fobbing in, such as ‘lock released at main lobby door’, this will activate relay output 1 and 5 (for example).

Relay Output 1 sends the lift car to the ground floor, whilst relay output 5 will only allow the button in the lift for ‘level 5’ to be pressed – therefore limiting resident access to only their floor, helping to keep the rest of the building secure.

NOTE: Using low level lift integration requires multiple relays, and so for larger multi-dwelling projects, hi level integration would be better suited.

Door Entry – 2Voice

NOTE: 2Voice can provide visitor lift management when used alone, or when combined with the Urmet Access Control system IPassan, it can offer BOTH visitor and resident lift management.

2Voice Hi level integration uses IPassan to provide BOTH visitor and resident lift management.

This method uses the Urmet 2Smart panel, and is managed on the IPassan Manager software. Again, this works in the same way to the IPassan lift management method in that it limits the floor destination to both the resident and visitor when the door is released.

This integration does however require IPassan output modules.

2Voice has 2 methods of low level integration – one with IPassan and one without.

With IPassan:

This method allows for both visitor and resident lift management. It works in a similar way to how IPassan’s low level integration functions; when the entry door is released, the lift is limited to a specific floor, so the resident/visitor can only travel to their desired floor.

This method is managed on the IPassan Manager software, and requires IPassan output modules. It is installed on the 2Voice BUS.

Without IPassan:

This method is independent from our Access Control system IPassan, and only allows for visitor lift management. This method works by limiting visitor access to only the resident floor after the apartment monitor has allowed entry to the building.

This method requires 2Voice special decoders.

NOTE: IPerCom can provide visitor lift management when used alone, or when combined with the Urmet Access Control system IPassan, it can offer BOTH visitor and resident lift management.

IPerCom has a hi level integration with IPassan to offer both visitor and resident lift management.

This, like the other methods, simply limits the floor the resident and visitor have access to once they have access to the building.

This method is managed by the IPassan Manager Software, and requires IPassan output modules.

IPerCom has independent, low level lift integration to offer visitor only lift management.

Again, it works similar to both the 2Voice and IPassan methods in that the floor destination is limited to the residents’ floor after the apartment monitor has released the main entry door.

This method requires IPerCom output modules.

So, what can you take away from all of that?

Well, that Urmet have a variety of different methods to offer lift management to both residents and visitors. So no matter your project, or the Urmet system you are installing, your installation can enjoy the benefits of lift management.

How is it Managed?

Upon moving in, residents are issued with a credential (either a physical token/fob or a Bluetooth credential which uses their smartphone as their token, for more information on Bluetooth credentials, click here)

The residents’ credential is programmed by the installer, and managed by the building manager via IPassan Manager. Each credential is set up with specific access permissions which restrict the residents to the areas of the building they are permitted to enter (their floor, basement, car park, gym etc).

Urmet readers are placed in strategic areas, where the resident must use their token or Bluetooth credential to gain access to a specific area, readers are generally located:

  1. Outside the lift – here the resident can present a valid credential to call the lift; once inside the lift they can only access the floors that their permissions allow.
  2. Inside the lift – the resident will call the lift as normal using the lift call button, once inside the lit the resident presents a valid credential to the reader, which will then allow them access to the floors that their permissions allow.

Residents can also benefit from lift management within their apartment, at any time, the resident can call the lift to their floor, or send the lift to the ground floor directly from their apartment monitor!

Visitors will call the residents’ apartment monitor from an entry panel (main entrance, secondary entrance such as the lift lobby, or in rare instances, inside/outside of the lift).

The resident will grant access to the visitor from their apartment monitor, this can then automatically call the lift to ground and only allow the visitor access to the residents’ floor.

This feature can be an alternative or supplement solution to building compartmentation.

NOTE:

All scenarios described above are possible with BOTH hi and low level integration, however it’s important to know that Urmet systems DO NOT control the lift, they simply send commands to the lift control logic.

All lift control is performed by the lift control logic and any Urmet feature is dependant on the type of lift logic supplied by the lift manufacturer.

If lift management is required, then early specification with the lift manufacturer is advised to ensure the correct level of lift logic is procured.
