Lift destination control prevents unauthorised visitors & residents from accessing specific floors of a building, by limiting the floors they have access to when using the lift.

Put simply, this means that when using a lift, visitors & residents can only access the specific floors they’re allowed to access (i.e. their apartment floor), and no others.

We can provide both visitor & resident lift destination control, which is centrally managed on IPassan Manager, through either software integration, or through the more commonly requested solution, which uses our hardware (i.e. relays).

How does it work for the resident?

Resident lift destination control can be achieved in 3 different ways, it’s your decision for how you would like it to work for your project.

The 3 ways resident lift destination control can be achieved on site are:

  1. Entry Panel in the lift lobby on the ground floor
  2. Entry Panel directly in the lift car
  3. Reader directly in the lift car

For this example, let’s say that the resident lives on the 5th floor, they also have access to 2 communal floors such as the basement car park & rooftop garden.

The resident would approach the lift, and present their token to the reader (either the built-in reader in our Entry Panel, or our wall mount reader), which is located either in the lift lobby, or in the lift car itself.

When presenting their token, the reader will read the residents’ access permissions & based on these permissions, only specific floor buttons in the lift would be activated.

For this example, the resident has access to 3 different floors, so only the buttons for those 3 floors would be activated in the lift.

The rest of the floor buttons would not be active, so even if they were pressed, the lift would not move (this prevents unauthorised access to other floors of the building).

The resident then simply selects one of the 3 active floor buttons, to be taken to their desired floor.

How does it work for the visitor?

Visitor lift destination control can be achieved in 2 different ways, it’s your choice for how you would like it to work for your project.

The 2 ways visitor lift destination control can be achieved on site are:

  1. Entry Panel in the lift lobby on ground floor
  2. Entry Panel directly in the lift car

For this example, let’s say that the visitor is visiting a resident who lives on the 5th floor of the building.

The visitor would approach the lift, and call the resident’s apartment from the Entry Panel, which is either in the lift lobby, or in the lift car itself.

When the visitor is calling the resident, the monitor in the residents’ apartment will ring.

The resident will be able to see the visitor at the lift, and engage in a 2-way conversation with them, before deciding whether or not to give them access to their floor.

To allow the visitor access, the resident simply presses the ‘key’ button on their monitor.

Once the ‘key’ button has been pressed, the residents’ floor button in the lift will activate, in this example the resident lives on the 5th floor, so the 5th floor button in the lift will activate.

The rest of the floor buttons would not be active, so even if they were pressed, the lift would not move (this prevents unauthorised access to other floors of the building).

The visitor then simply presses the residents’ floor button in the lift, to be taken directly to their floor.
